Why Steel Construction


1 - ARCHITECTURAL FREEDOM:
Steel never limits the design , on the contrary it provokes new designs. It allows every kind of designs to be applied thanks to its benefits such as the ability to exceed high gaps, being esthetic and the easiness of handling. Most of the examples of Post-modern architecture are built with steel.

2 - STABILITY :
Steel , is much stronger than the traditional construction systems under both normal and temporary strains. (Wind, Earthquake, etc.) Due to its high stability, steel becomes an indispensable structure solution specially in cases where the old building methods are insufficient.

3 - SECTION SUFFICIENCY:
Amongst the construction materials, steel is the material that can carry the most load in unit area. That's why the usage area is much more spacious in the Steel carrier structures compared to the other structures.

4 - HOMOGENEITY:
If enough protection cautions are taken, steel can be worked under every kind working conditions, because it is a structure material made by the totally same material ( that doesn't contain any strengthening material inside )

5 - LIGHTNESS :
Steel is very light because it minimizes the carrier sections. A structure that has a steel carrier is 1/20 lighter than an equal reinforced concrete structure. This provides a big advantage to the building in terms of earthquakes and also permits the building to try to carry the loads it has rather than trying to carry itself.

6 - MAKING HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS :
Steel has no limits to the highness of the structure because it is a material with high stretching ability. Already most of the high-rise buildings are made with steel.

7 - EARTHQUAKE RESISTANCE :
Due to its lightness, steel has much less earthquake load than the reinforced concrete buildings. This provides a very big relief for the vertical carriers (column , curtain, etc) that are the most important components of the building . In this way , the loads that the building must resist and the material that should be used in return of these loads will be decreased.

Steel is completely independent of the weather conditions during the supplying and prefabrication.

9 - EASY CONTROL:
Being an homogeneous material , steel is open to every kind control ( in construction or manufacturing site ). It’s very easy to follow, to apply and to correct the prefabrication mistakes.

10 - FAST PRODUCTION :
Being independent of the weather conditions, being a material easy to be controlled and also not needing a special treatment or a waiting time to obtain its stability, steel permits the building production to be made in the shortest time possible.

11 - AFFORDABILITY :
Steel is not cheap. But it’s one of the nicest indicators that it doesn't need to be cheap to be affordable. When we consider the factors such as ; being manufactured fast, being ready to be used in a short time , not preventing the building to be used during the application and reinforcement process, providing so much more space to use , possibility to be recycled, being more esthetic in terms of architecture, steel constructions shorten their amortization time and become much more affordable than their equivalents.

12 - LONG TERM USE :
When necessary cautions are taken and getting enough engineering service, steel can defy the years.

13 - POSSIBILITY TO BE RECYCLED :
Steel is a material that has an economic value even when it completes its usage lifetime, when it’s damaged, it’s disassembled or demolished. Also it is a “nature friendly” material because it can be recycled over and over again and it doesn't harm the environment.

14 - EASINESS OF REINFORCEMENT
Steel provides the possibility to its user to reinforce its building easily and in a very short time in cases such as ; the damages that time causes, the mistakes caused by the user or the manufacturer, changing the purpose of using.
